or outright Stupid and senseless

like a pile of 6,000 sneakers
strewn at the side
of a railroad track

or a photograph of a ragged
dirty 3 year old girl
squatting in a sea of garbage
and filth, holding a broken
doll arm and an old, used straw.

or the skeletal remains of a
pelican revealing the stomach contents
are a plastic tampon applicator,
a water bottle top and a bic lighter.

or a black, oozing pit of filth
and putridity and death
that goes on as far as the eye can see
for miles and miles and miles

where once stood
a forest
a lake
a river
a home
a heart
a life.

A few years ago I was Poisoned BY CHEESE. An environmental humanist ramble...

Here is something I wrote a few years ago.

I haven't written anything in several days. I am sure there is something inside my head, but I can't hear it because my ears are ringing because I was poisoned by cheese. Laid out like a sick dog for 5 days. And it all starts with cheese, that had Listeria bacteria in it. [which I found out almost 4 months later, when Whole Foods recalled it because someone died.] When I went to whole foods with my friend to buy food for her birthday party, We tasted cheeses. I got a headache later, and then terrible gas. It subsided the next day, but I felt tired, crampy, cold, uncomfortable, irritable, foggy for two days.  I dreamed that I was sick! I woke up with a sore throat. My ears started ringing incessantly.

Then we had the party. I felt ok, but slightly foggy still. I prepared the food for the party and sliced the cheese for the event. I tasted a few pieces. Almost immediately the headache returned. A dull pain in my eyebrow close to the bridge of my nose. I got tired, groggy, and lost all my energy. I ate some cheese when the party started. Finally I just couldn't keep going and I went to bed because of the headache. I woke up with it the next day. I felt shaky and my ears itched inside like when I had an allergic reaction to Sulfa. So, I drank about 10 glasses of water and ate plain white rice and boiled green vegetables and fruit for a few days and now I feel better. My ears are still ringing though. [they are still ringing 6 years later.]  (No one else at the party complained of illness afterwards, but they may have been healthier than me. Or ate less of the contaminated cheese. Or they blamed the symptoms on something else. I mean a head ache or bloating could be from anything.)

What does this have to do with life, humanity and environmentalism?  I asked myself when I started to write, and even now I only have a thread of a thought because ....

           I was Poisoned BY CHEESE.

And then there was the case of the important phrase.

I was reading an article. In a waiting room. I didn't keep track of the content because in the middle of it came the phrase       "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."
Of course it means something to me. I do not take the phrase lightly. It stopped me. I put the magazine down. I knew it would come again 2 more times. And then I would have to act upon it.
Again the phrase came as I was reading a facebook article, No Idea what... I tried for a moment to hold it in my poisoned foggy mind, but it faded.
Then this morning I watched a very good movie. It spoke to me of all the things that I believe and what I feel is possible and meaningful with the deep convictions of love. All the way at the very end of the film came the phrase... As ye sow, so shall ye reap.  And finally, I held onto the context.   - When it comes to our children (and their future) -  that was the message that was coming to me.

If cheese can poison me for five days what else am I eating and breathing and thinking that is making me sick?  WOW, there is a LOT we don't know. Or someone knows, but how do I find out? By getting really sick?! Lets face it, the world is astronomically huge in comparison to us, wee people. There is a lot we don't know because we are down here and what ever it is - is over there and well, no one reported it, or I don't have interest, or access until .... well, we just cant Know Everything. And That is How all the poison in the world is happening, out of our line of sight, Behind our backs, praying for our ignorance to remain. The earth is a  sewer and we have remained ignorant, running our little rat mazes, running after the ...Cheese!!...   that is secretly poisoning us!

The poisoned cheese, air, water, soil, food, animals, trees, the hate, the greed, the lies ..... the poison. I want to clean myself inside. I start today. I haven't had any cheese, no milk, no fish, no fat, no cookies cake soda... Tomorrow I drop wheat, corn, and regular market chicken. No more toxic food, hoping to avoid lies and hate as well.  No more poison.

But what about the rest of the world?  What am I going to do about the poison in the rest of the world? Our world?  What Can I DO?

What can I SOW that ALL of US can Reap and Be Glad, Be cleansed, Be FREED from poison and toxic pollution, polluters, liars, thieves,  toxic thoughts and beliefs and actions???

The SEEDS of  Change.

Seeds are IDEAS, the words from my mind to yours that share this thought...

SEEDS are the Gifts of LOVE we give with smiles and shining eyes to as many as possible every day in the hope that this will touch them.

SEEDS are the Wise and Loving WORDS we share with every one each day letting people know the Truth we know in our hearts and the things we have seen.

SEEDS are Our ACTIONS that others bear witness to and learn from and grow through.

And

SEEDS ARE Real tangible SEEDS. The seeds that we will plant to grow new forests and fields to sequester the carbon to heal our environment.

Seeds Of All Kindnesses Will Grow, so Plant them Everywhere.

Toxic thoughts and people and food rob us of energy and block us from outer realities and a healthier consciousness.
My awareness was raised by my own body. It forced me to do what I couldn't with just my thoughts.
So, Take this Knowledge to heart, That Your Body Knows That Something Is Wrong...
Your heart knows when something is wrong... It is our mind that sometimes pushes out the truth, hides away, prevents us from doing what is right, seeks to rationalize a wrong that is being done.

Let the Seeds of Change take root in your Heart, your Body, your Mind.
Let the Seeds of Change take root in you and in those you love,
Give them the Seeds they need to Grow ...

While we are sitting here, there is a lot going on in the world. There are countless good things going on in the world. Beautiful things that make us happy and sweet and gentle loving compassionate beings.

Then there is unspeakable evil going on in the world.

Let us Not get sidetracked by idiotic fools any longer who would have us believing that normal condensation trails from every jet in the world are so called "chemtrails" that are being covertly sprayed to sicken us or demonically alter the weather to make us all slaves to a secret society... Rather than BE Eyewitnesses to the Real Evils, the rape of Canada And India and Columbia and Brazil for the greed of corporations who want to sell us their products, their plastics, their technology, their crap that we are now slaves of.
Our natural resources are sacred. What are they worth to you? Why does some One own them? How does a company own a nations resources? And Why? and why do we let them? Who are we anyway? Aren't we The People?

I dont want to see any more silly crap about the illuminati or chemtrails or hidden planets or ufo's in my news feed, and I am begging you to get your heads out of the sand and LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE IN YOUR FACE. REAL ACTUAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DECIMATED RAIN FORESTS  OF SOUTH AMERICA FOR CATTLE FIELDS,OF NORTH AMERICA FOR TAR SANDS, OF INDIA AND CAMEROON, OF INDONESIA... PLEASE WAKE UP. REAL EVIL EXISTS.

And now, sadly, I have to get personal. Listen, friends, I am sorry, but your plastic is killing me. My plastic is killing you. Our gadgets and toys are f-ing killing us. We have to cut off our relationship with that parasite.
It's not just cars and heating oil and electric power plants that are using fossil fuels.... it is plastic. Plastic is DEATH.

If you dont know that plastic is made from petrochemical byproduct, get educated. Oil is plastic. Plastic is waste. It is flimsy shit that off gases toxic chemicals. It is poison from beginning to end. It is killing marine life. Filthy greed drives the death machine of fossil fuel dependence, and plastic is it's cute little baby. The greed is intense and they are telling us every day that we need their crap. They are feeding it to us like fat geese for the foie gras. From the oil drilling in the oceans to the oil spills thereof, to the coal fires in Pennsylvania, to the tar sands of Canada to the refineries of Alberta, to the steel and copper smelters of Peru and India, to the manufacturers of plastics who don't want you to know anything about the poison they are infecting us with....

Tell your friends to reuse plastic, stop buying plastic, get rid of plastic consciously, because it is a bad pollutant. But mostly STOP BUYING NEW PLASTIC.

Elaborating on Greed, oppression, apathy and pollution.

I am apparently writing an essay...

If you aren't sure what I am saying by ...reevaluating everything about my life down to the dental floss to make sure that I am not participating in tyranny... think on this...

In Jamaica there are bauxite mines. Bauxite is used to make aluminum and it is toxic. The extraction of alumina from bauxite produces a highly toxic residue, termed bauxite refinery residue (BRR) or red mud. The toxicity of this material is due to chemical and biological effects of high pH, alkalinity, electrical conductivity. It effects the ground water, dries up and blows all over the area, and displaces the farmers from their land. For Aluminum.

Aluminum foil, soda and beer cans, lightweight bicycles, keys, medical equipment, carabiners, and cooking pots.... and rockets. yes, Rockets.

Can I do without these things? I can try. Can I do something about the toxicity in Jamaica's environment, and India and Cameroon and all the places where this industry is going to move in, take over, make a mess and make the land poisoned and the people sick? Yes. I can tell you now, and I can tell someone else tomorrow, and I can say “So, don't use aluminum. Stop participating in using aluminum. The less we use, the less it will be needed or wanted, the less it will be mined.” And that is a start to stopping greed and tyranny. One small step. Because it is money that is gained by the people who own and operate the bauxite mines and refineries. It is money they are seeking. They only mine it to get money. NOT to make the world a better place. NOT AT ALL. There are other things to put beer and soda in, there are other ways to cook a baked potato. I don’t need aluminum to live my life well, and neither do you. I don’t need it enough to displace or sicken people in another land far from mine.

A short list of the most toxic things you use but don’t need in your life every day:

plastic water bottle, juice bottle, milk bottle

styrofoam coffee cup, plastic fork

car to drive you 2 blocks or 10 blocks

1 hour of internet or 4 hours or …

perfume

nail polish

hair spray, shampoo, body wash

plastic wrap, Plastic Bags!!

think of all the plastic plastic plastic plastic...

where does it go ? It doesn't go anywhere... it sits in piles all over the earth in countries we cant see from our back yard... it floats in the ocean and kills all forms of marine life....

Remember the thing about wasting paper?

Well, it turns out Trees are a renewable resource that we actually NEED to provide clean air and filter out carbons!!!! We NEED Trees so, Stop using plastic bottles for everything. MILK ,OJ and other juices come in paper cartons. Use wax paper and washable glass containers. Stop using plastic wrap Stop it. Plastic is poisonous to us and destroys the environment with horrible carbon released into the air during processing... It comes from oil and gas refining. It is bad bad bad. We NEED TO GROW TREES!!!  Farm them and replant them, use them and reuse them. Plastic is a big NON BIODEGRADABLE MESS. And it is just Making Somebody Rich. Nobody needs it. It is NOT NECESSARY for normal household use. Stop using it. Make the world a better place. Think about your impact on the whole world and generations to come every time you take a step. Every sip of water, every time you wrap a sandwich Think about the air clogged with poisonous toxins and the water poisoned and the tadpoles and the children of the future.... because you can not unknow what I have told you today, you can not conveniently forget... you can only choose to perpetuate the status quo.... Or NOT. 

Love as a means to effect change ...

Ok, Everyone has seen an image of the Grand Canyon. It is 1,904 square miles of space. Over 1,218,000 acres. And only about 500 Havasupai people live there. There are 7.6 Billion people on earth. If we put them all in the same place in the population density of let's say Tokyo, it would require the area of Alaska, roughly 663,300 square miles. The grand canyon is 5,000 feet deep. Multiply that by it's Area, 1,904 square miles,  you get 5.45 Trillion cubic yards. Divide that by 2 cubic yards (roughly the volume of one person and yep, Plenty of room to fit all of the people on earth in one big anthill of a pile.(well we might spill over a little) Think of us all scrambling around on top of each other like ants trying to hurry the hell out of there in search of food and scurry back later to some strange nest of sand in tiny tunnels.       http://flowingdata.com/2011/07/27/if-the-world-lived-in-a-single-city/
But, we don't have to live in just one place.... the earth's land mass is 57,505,693.767 sq mi which is about 29.2% of the total surface of the earth. We can basically live wherever we want. We don't have to live on top of each other like ants scurrying around frantic to find and hoard food. 

What we do have to do is live with each other on 29.2% of this planet peacefully, equally and healthily. Which, we do actually, pretty effectively everywhere on earth. Very effectively, really, when you think about it for a minute. We actually live with each other really well. Our neighbors, our towns, our countries for the most part don't kill each other day and night like rabid weasels in heat... No, we don't. Many countries are at war internally, but not All. Only around 12% of the world population are in a war zone.  This is why I believe that we are capable of an even better reality than what we have now. 

Civility is not quite the best that we can do. It is good, great really... but it breaks down into mere tolerance and then resentment and then paranoia and then hate. Because that is what civility is constructed upon, rivalries and hate quelled by tolerance. There must be a better way. A CORE Way to Internally ... emancipate ourselves from the mental slavery of what our parents, society, culture, religion, history, education has taught us.... INTO a Different Perception of TRUTH. 

The Truth Is that people get along. Look what they did in NY and NJ after Hurricane Sandy. People went to the beach towns and looked for victims door to door. They fed them. They felt a driving need to help and organize injured communities of their fellow people. Look what the allies did for the Jews during WWII. Men who otherwise might have not really liked a Jew for whatever social and religious prejudices willingly did their duty to save them, and stop a tyrant. Stop A Tyrant.

Tyrant:

     b : a usurper of sovereignty

     a : a ruler who exercises absolute power oppressively or brutally

     b : one resembling an oppressive ruler in the harsh use of authority or power

I am CONCERNED with Real Tyrants all over the world exhibiting Actual Tyranny right now, Today. 

Tyrants, and other forms of unkind selfish leaders are the real problem in the world. They threaten every aspect of peace and the health of humanity. ( I define health here as well being, equality, level of pollution and hunger in the population) Tyrants are by definition totally unconcerned with any one but themselves. They are self interested to the point of fascism and genocide. Their motivation is Power and in that, Greed. So, if you are wondering Why there is hunger and pollution in the world look to the greedy, the hate filled, the self interested, the polluting and there is the answer. 

Not all tyrants are obvious and not all greed is evident and not all fascism is bold. 

So, what do I do about this?  I am asking myself.

What am I going to do about this to effect change that is real? for EveryOne.

First of all I need to identify it. I need to look for every thing that I do that promotes greed and tyranny in the world. Every thing. So, my food, clothes, housing, money, job, entertainment, insurance, houseplants, pets, garbage shampoo nail polish socks.... thoughts, beliefs, methods, words... I have to look at them with new eyes and start deciding where to prioritize and begin removing my participation in Pollution, resource waste, cruelty, thoughtlessness, hoarding, greed, fascism... AND REPLACE Those things with safe, loving, renewable, local, community oriented behavior and practice. I need to do that Every Day, All Day, and Talk to my friends and family about that Way. I need to set an example to myself and to my friends and encourage everyone else to this Way of thinking about our participation in the global community. It means to me that I become Active in the process of a total consciousness shift. 

We might sometimes miss the meaning of "Waste not, Want not"  It means that if you do not waste what you have, then you will not want for it later.   It's brilliant.
